How to choose the right embroidery. 5 tips

The popularity of embroidery is growing every day. If before it was relevant to wear Ukrainian folk clothes only on Independence Day, today you will be in trend if you go to christenings, weddings, birthdays, rock concerts, social events... In other words, this is a universal festive outfit, so and the choice must be approached responsibly. So where do you start?

Hand or machine embroidery?

Which shirt to choose: with hand or machine embroidery, depends on how much money you are willing to part with. Handmade work is usually more original and, accordingly, more expensive. However, there is also a huge assortment of shirts with machine embroidery. And you can easily choose one in which you will look unique.

If you are completely ignorant and are afraid that you will be deceived, and instead of a hand-embroidered shirt, they will push you a machine-made product, then here is an advice from experts. Turn the product inside out and look carefully. On the reverse side of machine embroidery, the pattern looks almost the same as on the front side. But in manual work, the embroidery looks completely different.

Old or new?

This advice applies to those who decide to buy clothes with hand embroidery. So, the buyer has a choice: to buy an authentic suit that was embroidered by our great-grandmothers, or a product made by modern embroiderers. Here, too, everything depends on your taste and the thickness of your wallet. Usually, if an embroidered shirt is well preserved, it already has almost artistic value, so the price will be appropriate. And if it is in bad condition, the fabric is covered with yellow spots, then of course it will not be expensive at all.Although, why do you need such an embroidered shirt? There are now many talented craftswomen in Ukraine who embroider no worse than they did in ancient times.

Which fabric is better?

The most expensive fabric, which is used for sewing embroidery, is homespun cloth. Masters make it by hand. Gauze and factory linen are no worse. Clothes for women are usually sewn from gauze linen. This fabric is very thin.

Gabardine fabric is also natural, but a little cheaper. It is made from sheep's wool (from a certain breed of sheep living in Australia). Among the advantages of gabardine: less wrinkles than linen.

If you want a shirt made of chiffon, then ask the seller what percentage of synthetic fibers are there. If it is high, then it is better to choose another fabric. Although chiffon is just a thin fabric made of cotton, recently many "synthetics" have been added to it to make it cheaper. And such products are not very pleasant to the body and do not allow air to pass through, especially uncomfortable such clothes in the warm season.

Type of embroidery

Product pricing also depends on the type and plane of embroidery. That is, the embroidery can be applied directly to the pattern (more expensive option) or to a separate piece of fabric, and then sewn onto the product (cheaper option). Although a budget type of embroidery - a patch has its own advantage. If the product is damaged somewhere, then the embroidery is easier to peel off and transfer to another shirt.

As for the plane of embroidery, it is clear that the more fabric covered by handwork, the higher the price for this piece will be.

Also, when choosing an embroidered fabric, experts advise paying attention to the density of the embroidery. The higher it is, the longer these clothes will last you.

Fabric color

Nowadays, embroidery on black fabric is gaining popularity. And if you are struggling with the choice of which one is better to buy: white or black, then think about what occasion you will wear this thing more often. If it is an official or solemn event, then a classic embroidery on a white canvas is better. If you want to go to rock concerts or parties in an embroidered jacket, then, of course, an embroidered jacket on black fabric will look very stylish and fashionable.
